Offense Defense Nike Sports Camps: Golf Program

The NIKE Golf School @ Stonehill College is part of the Offense Defense NIKE Sports Camp family (tennis, soccer, lacrosse and softball). Offense-Defense Sports Camps at Stonehill College offer the finest facilities, staff, program, and a superior instructional method that will bring your GOLF game to another level.  Coined by a camper as “the everything camp,” ODSC provides its own unique teaching method that effectively covers every aspect of the game, offers a variety of fun off-course activities, and attracts campers from all over the world.
STONEHILL COLLEGE
Stonehill College is located 22 miles south of Boston. This campus boasts a beautiful country setting and includes a gymnasium, numerous athletic fields, and 29 buildings that compliment the original Georgian-style Ames mansion. Campers will enjoy superb dorms and living facilities, including air-conditioning. 

Golf Courses
The Nike Golf Camp at Stonehill College takes its golfers local area courses for course play.   Our golf facilities include, but are not limited to, Pine Oaks Country Club and Easton Country Club.  We make an effort to visit at least 3 different golf courses per week. With the large number of 18-hole courses within a 10mile radius, there are several options.

Some of our camper favorites are:

Old Scotland Links: Founded in 1997, Olde Scotland Links (OSL) is an 18 hole links-style championship public course designed for both strategy and playability. With five sets of tees OSL plays from just under 5,000 yards to nearly 6,800 yards. OSL is a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.

River Bend Country Club: Opened May, 1999. River Bend Country Club is a golf course with a split personality. The front nine is wide open and plays along the Town River with water, hazards and wind affecting every hole. The back nine plays through tree-lined fairways that are reminiscent of the Carolinas which makes for an interesting round of golf. There are bent grass tees, greens and fairways.

Unlimited golf balls for instruction, lecture rooms, golf movies, and other innovative golf teaching devices will be available to all campers.

LEAD INSTRUCTOR
The Head Golf Instructor is Particia Golzalez. Originally from Armenia, Colombia, Patricia started playing golf at age 15. Played in the Colombian National Team from 1978 to 1985 and winner of the major amateur tournaments in Colombia. Played collegiate golf at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX and majored in business marketing. Won the 1982 AIAW All State Tournament as a freshman and also the 1985 SWC Championship Individual & Team as a senior. Turned professional in 1986 and was Rookie of the Year in the European LPGA. Her career low round was 65. She is a member of the English and Colombian PGA since 1987. She has worked in England, USA and Colombia and has been with Jim McLean Golf School since 2002.

OWNERS/DIRECTORS:
As a former Tennis professional, Mehdi Belhassan is the owner of one of the most successful tennis camps in the nation (Offense Defense NIKE Tennis Camp). His love for sports however did not stop at tennis. After retiring from tennis competition, Mehdi Belhassan picked up golf and as the golf saying goes, 'he has been bit by the golf bug.' Today he is an avid golfer with a single digit handicap. Golf has become one of his passions in life. With the help and consulting of several PGA pros, Mehdi Belhassan founded the NIKE Golf Camp at Stonehill College (formally called Tee It Up Golf Camp) which will run simultaneously with all other Offense Defense NIKE Sports Camps using the same format and teaching philosophy.   Mehdi resides on campus throughout all camp sessions, and quickly gains the respect of all the campers.  Maria directs all office and customer service operations of the camp.  Maria is the background force, organizing summer events, registration packets, and the many other aspects to putting together a great summer production!  Maria is available via email, and during the year the 1-800 number rings to her cell phone.  Our policy is that every parent should be 100% comfortable by the time they drop off their child to our camp.

THE NIKE FACTOR:

Even though our golf camp has an 80% camper return rate, we still felt that we could do better!  We have accomplished this by joining forces with NIKE GOLF CAMPS (US SPORTS CAMPS). 

NIKE is not just any other brand… NIKE is a whole way of thinking.  NIKE Golf Camps set the bar high when it comes to all aspects of camp: from teaching methods & hiring staff to the registration process and check in procedures.  Being a part of NIKE Golf Camps gives us the opportunity to meet with other Golf Camp Directors and bring together innovative ideas on how to make our camp #1!

MORALS/ VALUES: Offense Defense Golf Camp at Stonehill College is primarily concerned that each student be treated as a person of integrity and worth, and that values that he develops on a golf course be carried into his daily life. Sportsmanship, gamesmanship, tolerance for hard work, and enthusiasm for playing the game can be instilled in all students regardless of physical talents. Swearing, temper tantrums, and similar negative behavior will not be tolerated. All students can become champions - as sensitive, productive, distinctive individuals. Some will even become champions on the course. Our motto is ... enter the Nike Golf Camp at Stonehill College to become a good golfer and even finer lady and gentleman!!

Beginner to Tournament (Players 8-18)
Classes are programmed for three different proficiency levels: beginners, intermediates and advanced players of all ages. Each student will be tested weekly and placed in a group of 5 of similar ability, and age. Beginners will be playing golf in just a few days; intermediates will improve all aspects of their game; and advanced players will sharpen their game to a competitive edge.
Program For Tournament Players (8-18 years) Our intensified program for aspiring Tournament Players is ideal for competitive players who presently play or wish to try out for their high school or pre-high school team.   Players must have at least 1-3 years of golf experience.  Players will be evaluated to see if they qualify.

SUPERIOR SUPVERVISION!
We have two separate staff for double the supervision!  Coaches are not required to watch campers during non-sport hours and are therefore able to rest and give 100% effort everyday.  Their counselor staff have been hired to watch campers during all non-sport hours and field trips!

CAMP DETAILS:

Check-in will take place between 12:00-2:00 pm at Corr Hall for Overnight campers and from 2:00-2:30 pm for Extended Day Campers on Sunday.   Camp ends on Friday at 4:30pm.

Other activities include ping pong, softball, basketball, soccer, movies, concerts, historical sites, Harvard square, and Quincy market. All off-campus trips are at a minimal cost on a purely non-compulsory nature. 

The Overnight fee includes all golf instruction, green fees, evening activities, housing and all meals.  The Extended Day fee includes all of the above except housing and breakfast.  Extended Day campers may participate in the evening activities.

OTHER SPORTS CAMPS:
As our Offense Defense Sports Camps consist of 5 sports in 1 location, it is important to understand that our camp is still an Intensive Sports Camp for each individual sport.  Though we have 5 sports, each sport is directed by professionals, former professionals, Division 1 Collegiate players or highly ranked coaches of tennis, soccer, golf, lacrosse, or softball.  Each coach, head pro, and other employee answers to the owners/ directors of Offense Defense Nike Sports Camps: Mehdi & Maria Belhassan.    During all non-sport hours (breakfast, lunch, dinner, free time, and evening activities) every camper of Offense Defense comes together.  We are essentially 1 camp with 5 specialties.
